Monica A. Ford

Head of Sales for Industrial Lubricants, Clariant Corporation

Monica A. Ford, Ph.D., is a native of Albany, Ga and currently resides in Beaufort, SC with her husband,
Kessna, and their son, Donaven. Monica attended college at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL, where
she obtained a BS in Chemical Engineering, before going on to pursue a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering
from the University of Florida. Monica then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Chemical
Engineering Department at the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Monica’s first industrial position was with the Lubrizol Corporation as a Research Engineer in the Applied
Sciences division. She served in that role for five years, before joining Ingevity in N. Charleston, SC,
where she held several technical roles over the next eight years. Monica has a passion for mentoring
and developing talent and for helping marginalized individuals navigate corporate environments. While
at Ingevity, Monica was the founding chair of the Black employee research group, VIBE, which stands for
Visions of Ingevity’s Black Excellence.
Monica has served in leadership positions in various industry associations, including serving on the
board of the Chicago regional STLE (Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers) chapter, serving as the Secretary of the Metalworking Fluids Committee for ILMA (Independent Lubricant Manufacturers
Association), and as a technical editor for STLE’s TLT Magazine. Monica is currently the Head of Sales for Industrial Lubricants at Clariant Corporation.
